Industry context
In the same period in which the average air fare price fluctuated 15,8% compared to three years ago, aviation kerosene (QAV) had a very significant increase, of approximately 170%.
In the three-year period, a liter of QAV went from R$ 2,17 to R$ 5,84, considering the month of July as a reference. The item fuel and lubricants represented, at the end of the first half of this year, around 42% of the total costs of airline companies.
In the seventh month of the year, the supply of flights in domestic air transport, measured by available seat kilometers (ASK), increased by 0,1% compared to data computed in the same period of 2019, demonstrating that the sector has been recovering from the period of the covid-19 pandemic, when the air network was drastically reduced. However, although the indicator is important for the formation of air fare prices, it should be noted that other factors are also considered, such as the cost of the QAV, exchange variation and other macroeconomic indicators.
Price range
The domestic air fare shows that 29% of tickets sold in July cost up to R$300,00; most of them, almost 54%%, were sold below R$500,00; and 5,8% cost more than R$1.500,00.
Also according to tariff indicators, of the total number of tickets sold in the domestic market, 25,4% went to airports in the state of São Paulo (SP), 9,5% went to terminals in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and 6,3% of tickets had the airports of Minas Gerais (MG) and Paraná (PR) as destinations.
