US Attorney's Office in Massachusetts has charged 33-year-old enger Francisco Torres with interfering and attempting to interfere with flight crews and using a weapon on airplanes. The incident occurred last Sunday (05) on a United flight from Los Angeles to Boston.

The enger's rage against the United flight attendant happened about 45 minutes before the scheduled landing in Boston. Initial allegations indicated that Francisco Torres had modified the aircraft's door locking mechanism.

Torres was then questioned by one of the United flight attendants who immediately warned the captain that the enger could be a threat to the safety of everyone on board.

After questioning, he went to the emergency exit windows with an object in his hand, pushed one of the crew and tried to 'stab' the United flight attendant. The object in question was a silver spoon that the enger took and tried to break inside the plane's bathroom to become a sharp object.

Torres even made three 'stabbing' attempts against the flight attendant, who was not hit as the blows hit her chain and tie.

At this time, the other flight attendants and also some engers helped to contain Torres until the aircraft landed. Shortly after landing, the enger was arrested and during interrogation he itted to all the acts performed on board the United flight.

The enger was also aware that opening one of the emergency exits in flight could lead to death of some engers.

“Torres stated that he believed the commissioner was trying to kill him, so he was trying to kill the commissioner first,” said an excerpt from the complaint.

United thanked the crew for their quick action in this case and added: "We have zero tolerance for any form of violence on our flights, and this customer will be banned from flying United pending an investigation."

The president of the Association of Flight Attendants said in a statement that she was relieved that no crew and engers were injured and stressed that a list of banned engers should be urgently created.

“When incidents like this happen, not only do they risk the safety of the crew involved, but they also take away from flight attendants' ability to respond to medical, safety or security emergencies. It puts everyone at risk and there is zero tolerance for it.”, said Sara Nelson.
