Based on this agreement, repairs to Thales equipment present in the airline's fleet of more than 120 aircraft will now be carried out in the country, thus strengthening the national aviation industry and reducing the emission of gases into the atmosphere, since the route to this maintenance, until then carried out in countries such as the United States and , is now carried out within Brazilian borders.

The repairs for this contract will be carried out at the Thales Avionics Service Center in Brazil, located in São Bernardo do Campo (SP). In addition to the advantages for the national aviation industry, the possibility of continuing with maintenance of this type in Brazil brings benefits to GOL, with a consequent reduction in TAT (Turn Around Time), contracts made in local currency, in the same time zone and in local language.

According to the General Director of Thales in Brazil, Luciano Macaferri Rodrigues, the contract comes to strengthen the company's strategy of being a reference in avionics equipment maintenance in Brazil and Latin America. “We expanded our Avionics Service Center in 2021 so that airlines operating in the region can optimize their operations with local maintenance services that also strengthen the Brazilian industry”.

Macaferri also points out that the contract also brings a significant gain in sustainability, with the reduction of the route taken to send and collect parts under repair, and the elimination of bureaucracies common to the transport of avionics materials across borders.

“We are very pleased with Thales' progress in the development of local repairs in a market that is still very limited in offering this type of service in Brazil. Having Thales invest in the country brings us, in addition to the security of being able to count on the quality of the original manufacturer, also an opportunity to reduce costs for us operators”, says Fernando Miwa, Director of Maintenance at GOL and GOL Aerotech.
