Sideral performs the first flights with its Boeing 737-800

Sideral Linhas Aéreas finally performed the first flights with the new model of its fleet, the Boeing 737-800. Speculated a few years ago, the company based in Curitiba brought its first aircraft of its kind, also being the first of the 737 NG family to be operated.

The aircraft arrived in October 2022 and received registration PR-SLA, and since then it had not performed any flights and was stored at the company's facilities in Curitiba. 

The first Boeing 737-800 arrived for Sideral with parts of the painting of the old operator that was the Chinese Anadolu Jet and still configured for the transport of engers. It is not yet known whether it will actually be converted into a freighter or whether it will only be operated for chartered enger flights.

After a few months without any operation, PR-SLA performed the first flights with Sideral this week. These flights are not scheduled yet, they are certification flights with ANAC so that the company can use them. 

Sideral's Boeing 737-800 rez a local flight taking off and landing in Curitiba last Sunday (04), flying the next day to São Paulo (GRU), and making flights to Porto Alegre and Florianópolis this Tuesday (06).

It is possible that the plane is very close to entering the network to carry out regular flights to Sideral, since one of the final stages of certification are the evaluation flights carried out with the ANAC.

The Sidereal is an airline that operates both enger aircraft for charter flights and also exclusive freighters. It is not yet clear whether the company actually intends to convert the new Boeing 737-800 or whether it will use it to transport engers.

If the company decides to convert the plane, the 737-800 will offer greater cargo capacity for the company.

In a single flight, the aircraft that is part of the series Boeing Converted Freighter carries up to 23,9 tons of cargo, with a maximum range of 3750 km. The new generation is also at least 10% more fuel efficient compared to the previous generation. (Classic).
