The Women of the World Festival (WOW) is a movement created by the WOW Foundation and is produced and curated by Redes da Maré, a civil society organization, which was born from community mobilization in the Maré favelas – in Rio de Janeiro. The event has three macro objectives: celebrate the achievements of girls and women in an open and welcoming space; promote an intense exchange between women from Rio de Janeiro and the world; and disseminate reflections on the impact of Brazilian structural inequalities on women's lives.
