The Airbus A330-900neo registration F-ONET, has 1 year and 3 months of use. He was flying SB800 to Narita, at the moment of final approach for landing descending from 5000 feet to 4000 feet, the crew reported problems with the flaps.

When reporting the problem by radio, the crew made orbits for 35 minutes to try to find a solution. After that time, the crew made a safe landing at Narita Airport on runway 34L.

Due to the problem with the flaps, the speed during landing was above normal, approximately 160 knots. According to Airbus, the landing speed on the A330neo is 141 knots with an approximate weight of 191.000 kg.

The aircraft spent 1 day on the ground for unscheduled maintenance. As a result, the flight back to Noumea was canceled and carried out on December 19th.

After this period, the A330neo was successful in its maintenance and returned to Aircalin's operational network. Interestingly, this same A330neo has already experienced another major problem, a strong smell of oil in the enger cabin. It caused a great deal of discomfort among the engers.

Aircalin sent the aircraft to Airbus to carry out a verification in October 2019, 1 month after receiving the aircraft. F-ONET returned to the company in December 2019 with all issues resolved.
