The Federal Police launched, early this Wednesday afternoon (02/02), Operation Acauã with the objective of investigating the crimes of fire, qualified damage and criminal association, which resulted in the total and partial destruction of two helicopters at the service of Ibama.
An arrest warrant and a search and seizure warrant were served in Goiânia/GO, where the suspect of having Ibama helicopters set on fire on 24/01/2022 at an Airfield in Manaus/AM was arrested.
With the arrest this Wednesday, six people were arrested for involvement in these crimes. Last week, the Federal Police, acting in secrecy to safeguard the outcome of the investigations, had already identified and taken into custody five other people involved: the driver, suspected of having taken and removed the perpetrators from the crime scene; two suspected of setting fire to the aircraft and two suspected of intermediating the agency of the executors and transferring the payment for the crimes.
After the confession, three involved recognized the alleged intellectual author of the crime, identified as involved in illegal mining activities in Roraima/RR, and target of the measures carried out this Wednesday in Goiânia.
According to the investigation, the criminal action would have as its main motive to curb the inspection and repression actions against illegal mining carried out in the State of Roraima in 2021, the criminal act being a reprisal for the t operations carried out by the Federal Police and Ibama, which involved with the direct use of the aircraft object of the crimes.
