A LATAM will inaugurate its first international route in Curitiba on November 1st of this year, with 3 direct flights per week to Santiago, Chile.
The initiative, in addition to expanding connectivity in Paraná, will make Curitiba the fifth Brazilian city to have international LATAM flights, after Fortaleza, Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro (Galeão) and São Paulo (Guarulhos).
Currently, the capital of Paraná is one of the focus cities for the company's investments, which has already returned to flying to 20 international destinations from Brazil (before the Covid-19 pandemic there were 26 destinations).
According to a Aline Mafra, Director of Marketing and Sales at LATAM Brazil, in addition to meeting current demand, the inclusion of Curitiba among the airports with international flights reflects the process of resumption of the international market by the company.
“Curitiba deserves this investment and our focus continues to be the sustainable growth of our network, allocating supply where there is potential demand. In addition to resuming and inaugurating flights, we are managing to diversify airports with international operations. This generates value for different regions of Brazil and more comfort for customers in of connectivity and travel time”.
Compared to a connecting flight in São Paulo, for example, the direct Curitiba-Santiago flight will reduce the total travel time between the two cities in South America by almost 50%. Air tickets for the new route are already on sale in latam.com and other sales channels.
CURITIBA-SANTIAGO WILL HAVE 3 WEEKLY FLIGHTS
The new route will have three weekly flights, which will take off from Curitiba on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 19:25 pm, with a duration of 2:45 hours. From Santiago, flights will take off on the same days at 13:05 pm, with a duration of 4:25 am.
The flights will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft, which have capacity for up to 176 engers (8 Economy and 168 Economy).
In all, LATAM has already returned to flying from Brazil to 20 international destinations (there were 26 before the Covid-19 pandemic). Destinations already reactivated are: Asunción, Barcelona, Bogotá, Buenos Aires/Aeroparque, Buenos Aires/Ezeiza, Mexico City, Frankfurt, Lima, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Mendoza, Miami, Milan, Montevideo, New York, Orlando, Paris , Santiago and Rome.
In addition, outside the Rio-São Paulo axis, customers have options from Fortaleza (with flights to Miami) ou Porto Alegre (with flights to Lima), both of which also resumed in July.
For this year, the company expects to resume the routes Sao Paulo/Guarulhos-Boston (3 weekly flights) and Rio de Janeiro/Galeão-Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (3 weekly flights), both in October 2022.
By December, the company expects to add more direct flights on routes such as Buenos Aires/Ezeiza-São Paulo/Guarulhos (20 weekly flights), Rio de Janeiro/Galeão-Santiago (12 weekly flights), São Paulo/Guarulhos-Lima (18 flights weekly), São Paulo/Guarulhos-Miami (14 weekly flights) and São Paulo/Guarulhos-Montevideo (12 weekly flights).
From the first to the second quarter of this year, LATAM recorded 60% increase in international ticket sales in Brazil. The growth proves that the search for trips abroad has heated up again in the last three months.
