Azul announced that, from now on, Customers at Jacarepaguá airport, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, will be able to fly to Lisbon, Paris (Orly airport), Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Curaçao through the acquisition of a single air ticket.
In practice, the new service offers even more agility and connectivity to Customers, who will be able to have their luggage checked to their final destination, and speed, as they will be able to choose the airport closest to them to start their international trips with the company.
The operation from Jacarepaguá will be carried out by Azul Conecta, on Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft, and connections will be set up via Viracopos, Confins and Congonhas. The new product is only valid for those traveling in economy class and will be made available with the entry of new direct flights at Viracopos airports, starting in June, and Confins, the following month. At the moment, it will not be possible to purchase tickets or baggage allowances in Jacarepaguá, where only customer service will be provided.
It is worth highlighting that this new service serves an important audience made up of businesspeople, artists and participants in various types of events in the capital of Rio. A trip via Jacarepaguá then becomes strategic for those who want to save time, avoiding boarding at other airports in the city. “Azul innovated by offering the first air bridge between Jacarepaguá and Congonhas. Now, with this operation already consolidated, we are announcing new destinations from this airport and also services that will facilitate connectivity for our Customers”, highlights André Mercadante, director of Alliances and Planning at Azul.
Operating at Jacarepaguá airport since November 2022, Azul Conecta has already transported more than 18 thousand Customers, until December 2023, in the direct connection with Congonhas airport. Flights offer faster access to Barra da Tijuca, located about 30 kilometers from the center of Rio de Janeiro. The destination, in fact, was one of the most sought after last year at Azul Conecta. With the planned expansion of Azul's operations to more destinations, Jacarepaguá airport will now have up to 13 daily flights to Congonhas (SP), Campinas (SP) and Belo Horizonte (MG).
