The year 2024 is positively marking the history of Belém International Airport, under the management of Norte da Amazônia Airports (NOA). Still regarding the increase in movement, the airport celebrates an important milestone by recording the best month of May in its history, exceeding the demand met this month since the beginning of its operations. Between departures and arrivals, Júlio Cezar Ribeiro Airport (Val-de-Cans) received more than 338 thousand engers in the period, an increase of 17% compared to 2023. In addition to regular flights, the month of May also saw an increase in three daily frequencies from Azul, with arrivals and departures to Guarulhos Airport (SP).

The positive results are also reflected in the number of flights operated in the same time frame. From January to May this year, 13.783 landings and takeoffs were recorded, a volume 16% higher than last year, when the record was 11.829 operations.

For Marco Migliorini, CEO of Norte da Amazônia Airports (NOA), the indicators reaffirm the potential of the project. “It is with great optimism that we announce such impressive results. As an important vector of air mobility in the north of the country, Belém International Airport offers several connectivity options, serving both interior cities and Brazilian capitals, in addition to providing direct connections to international destinations,” he states.

Increase in flights in June

During the month of June, Belém International Airport is also counting on a significant increase in flight offerings. Azul, responsible for important air connections between Pará and southeastern Brazil, is offering 25 extra flights to Belo Horizonte International Airport (Confins) throughout the period. The operations represent a 45% increase over current capacity, with an additional 8.700 seats on the route between the capitals of Pará and Minas Gerais.

In Migliorini's view, the new frequencies contribute to connectivity for thousands of travelers at the largest airport in the northern region. “The increase in flights on the route to Belo Horizonte plays a fundamental role in mobility, as Confins Airport is an important hub for Azul connections to various destinations in the southeast and south of Brazil”, he points out.

Another novelty for this period is the increase from four to five weekly TAP Air flights to Lisbon. The company, which celebrated 10 years of operations at Belém International Airport, connects Brazil to Europe, placing the State of Pará on the international map.
