This weekend, the airports of Manaus and Brasília are expected to receive an excellent visit from an Antonov An-12 from Ukraine Air Alliance Airlines.
According to data from ANAC's planned flight system (SIROS), the veteran aircraft should first through Manaus (MAO) from Panama (PTY) this Saturday (31), and then continue to Brasília (BSB) the following day, with a destination of Argentina.
Check the schedule:
Next Saturday (31/08), the An-12 is expected to take off from Panama at around 07 am (local time), landing in Manaus at around 13 pm, also local time.
The following day (01/09), the Antonov is scheduled to take off at around 1:30 am, with landing in Brasília scheduled for 06:00 am, remaining in the federal capital for just over two hours, taking off at around 8 am bound for Ezeiza International Airport, in Argentina.
Despite the schedules in the ANAC system, it is worth ing that the operation is subject to delays or cancellations without prior notice.
The Antonov An-12 was developed with characteristics for both military and civilian operations, which justifies its use for more than 5 decades for cargo transportation. In fact, the An-12 is a very successful aircraft for the Soviet industry, becoming an alternative to the North American C-130 Hercules.
Despite being a competitor of the C-130 Hercules, the An-12 has the disadvantage of the absence of a rear ramp for unloading, as well as the lack of pressurization in the cargo compartment. The total capacity is for 20 tons of cargo for a maximum takeoff weight of approximately 61 tons.
General data of the An-12 aircraft:
Crew: 5 people
Capacity: 20 Tons of cargo
Length: 33,1 meters
Wingspan: 38 meters
Height: 10,53 meters
Cruising Speed: 670 km/h
Maximum flight altitude: 10.200 meters (33,500 feet)
Maximum takeoff weight: 61.000 kg
