ABAG, (Brazilian General Aviation Association), announced that air taxi companies operating throughout Brazil reached a total of 686 aircraft in August, an increase of 6,26% over the fleet in existence in January. If we compare this with the fleet of 600 aircraft in existence in January 2022, the growth reaches 14,33% in just over two and a half years. The figures are from a survey by ABAG that considers only aircraft in normal airworthiness from the 145 Brazilian companies operating in air taxi.
For comparison purposes, the Brazilian air taxi fleet, a segment belonging to General Aviation, is greater than the number of aircraft on regular airlines, which totaled 531 aircraft in operation in August.
General Aviation also has a broad reach. It uses all 3.756 airports and 1.365 heliports in the country, while regular airlines serve 176 locations.
General Aviation is also known as Business Aviation, as it is made up of individuals and organizations that operate aircraft to their businesses. This includes air taxi operators (including those operating in aeromedical transport, the oil & gas sector and connectivity for isolated communities in the Amazon), agricultural aviation, flying clubs and flying schools, and private operators.
This universe also includes public safety aviation and aircraft used by States and public authorities, in addition to specialized air services, such as aerial reporting, mineral prospecting, firefighting, among others.
