Last Monday (30), Anac announced via gov.br that, as of October 1, 2024, the bilateral aircraft maintenance agreement between Brazil and the United States will allow maintenance organizations to obtain certification from Federal Aviation istration (FAA) based on recommendations and assessments carried out by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac).
With the implementation of this agreement, the process of approval, renewal and supervision of Maintenance Organizations (MOs) becomes simpler and more economical, avoiding additional FAA-related costs for workshops in Brazil.
FAA-approved OMs will receive a letter with guidelines for transferring oversight to ANAC. This transfer is not mandatory, but organizations interested in taking advantage of the agreement will be able to do so starting October 1.
The general details of the agreement and the step-by-step process for the approval and renewal of OMs are explained in the documents Maintenance Implementation Procedure (MIP, or Maintenance Implementation Procedures) and Maintenance Agreement Guidance (MAG, or Maintenance Agreement Guide), both available at ANAC portal.
