Afghanistan received four more A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, produced through a partnership between Embraer and Sierra Nevada. The examples were transferred directly by the American Air Force, for the operation in Afghanistan, where the A-29 performs air , escort and terrain reconnaissance operations.
Now the aircraft will undergo a combat reconfiguration to start their missions. Seven more A-29 aircraft are flying missions over Afghan territory, one was lost during training. Afghanistan is expected to operate a fleet of 20 A-29 Super Tucano aircraft, all flown by of the country's air force.

The Afghanistan contract with Sierra Nevada/Embraer cost US$427 million and was paid in full by the US Air Force, which is also ing the missions.
Lebanon must also train its military on Afghanistan's aircraft so that the country can maintain its own squadron of six A-29 aircraft without international help.
