Last Wednesday (03), Airbus on its official website announced the delivery of the first H160 in the USA for PHI, marking the beginning of H160 operations in the country, this being the first of four initial H160 helicopters that the PHI will operate for offshore transportation in the Gulf of Mexico.
The helicopter will be used in a route validation program before commencing commercial operations, aiming to demonstrate the H160's capabilities in the challenging offshore environment. This process will help ensure a smooth transition into service by allowing the operator and end customer to become familiar with the aircraft's advanced technology and safety features.
“This is an exciting milestone for our teams and partners”, said Scott McCarty, CEO of PHI Group. “The H160 represents a new era for PHI, increasing our commitment to safety, quality and efficiency for our operations in the Gulf of Mexico. We are proud to officially welcome this state-of-the-art aircraft into our fleet as we begin route testing. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this achievement possible!”
Also in the release, Airbus highlights the speech of its CEO Bruno Even: “The H160’s lower fuel consumption, ability to use up to 50% mixed SAF, comfortable cabin and excellent visibility from the cockpit make it ideally suited for offshore operations, and we are confident it will excel in PHI’s power missions. ”
The H160 continues to grow in popularity in North America, with the first Canadian delivery recently being made at Chartright Air Group. Among the countries in which it operates are also Brazil, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and several other European countries.
