A pusback car ended up catching fire on Monday morning (23), in Guarulhos International Airport (GRU)), in São Paulo, at around 09:50 am. The aircraft was being taken to the maintenance hangar at the time of the incident.
Airport emergency crews were called to contain the flames in the pushback car. There is no information about damage to the fuselage of the Boeing 787.
Operated by ground handling companies, towing vehicles are generally operated by third-party companies, which offer ground and cartering services (feed inputs) depending on the company.
In a statement, GRU Airport, which is responsible for managing the airport, said that firefighters from the Airport Emergency Operations Center were called and controlled the fire. After the flames were controlled, the aircraft was removed and airport teams cleared the runway to normalize operations.
