Argentina’s National Civil Aviation istration (ANAC) has announced the creation of two commissions to modernize the country’s aviation system. The initiative was made official by a resolution and follows the guidelines of a decree that seeks to strengthen operational safety and align local regulations with international and regional standards.
The measure is part of the “open skies policy” promoted by Javier Milei’s istration. According to the text signed by ANAC’s interventor, María Julia Cordero, the commissions have specific goals.
The Commission for the Implementation of the Aviation Delegated Authority System will be responsible for creating an action plan for delegating operational responsibilities under strict supervision. The commission must deliver a final report containing diagnostics, procedures and normative recommendations for an orderly transition in compliance with current legislation.
The Commission for the Evaluation and Adoption of Latin American Aeronautical Regulations (LAR) will conduct a comparative study between Argentine regulations and the standards of the Regional Cooperation System for the Surveillance of Operational Safety (SRVSOP). Areas such as aircraft and aerodrome certification, operational safety standards, transportation of dangerous goods and certification of air and navigation service operators will be analyzed.
The goal is to “adjust and adopt the LARs to ensure greater integration with the regulatory frameworks of the region.” The committees will be composed of representatives from various areas of the regulatory agency, including operational safety, air navigation inspection, air transportation and airport services. The resolution stipulates that a preliminary report must be submitted within 30 days after the formation of the committees. The final report must be submitted within 60 days.
The Argentine ANAC reported that the actions will not imply additional costs for the budget and invited representatives of the industry and other interested sectors to participate in the work of the commissions.
