Argentina officially confiscates Boeing 747-300 operated by a Venezuelan company

Argentina has decided to officially confiscate a Boeing 747-300 from the state-owned airline Emtrasur Cargo, which is headquartered in Venezuela. The plane landed on June 06 in Buenos Aires, carrying VW parts for car production, taking off from Querétaro, Mexico.

However, Argentine authorities decided to investigate the plane and denied ground on its departure. Soon, the Boeing 747 ran out of fuel and maintenance.

The accusation that the plane belonged to Iran was made by the Minister of Security of Argentina, Fernandez Anibal, pointing out that the plane of the Venezuelan Emtrasur Cargo was being operated by citizens of Iran.

And in the last few hours, federal judge Federico Villena, from Argentina, decided to confiscate the aircraft, while the circumstances in which it arrived in the country continue to be analyzed.

Anibal declared on Twitter that five men detained, and who were part of the crew, carried Iranian ports and are military personnel. Another 14 crew were Venezuelans. All ports have been withheld until the court completes the expertise on their phones, tablets, computers and pen drives.

The real reason for all this movement could be Argentina's suspicion that an Iranian belongs to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, despite not having any formal denunciation involving Gholamreza Ghasemi.

Mahan Airlines sold the Boeing 737-300M with registration YV3531 to Emtrasur Cargo in 2019, and since then this is the only plane operated by the subsidiary of the Venezuelan state-owned company Conviasa. Also noteworthy is the aircraft being blacklisted in the United States, and unable to fly to any North American city.

As the two countries are partners, they also suffer sanctions from Western countries. Recently, Conviasa agreed to incorporate two A340-600 aircraft currently operated by the Iranian Mahan Air.
