Avianca Flight 9418 carrying 168 engers from Pereira to Bogota had its takeoff aborted due to an apparent failure in the left engine at Matecaña International Airport (PEI) in Pereira, Colombia.</p> The incident involved 164 engers and 4 crew, all of whom were safely evacuated to Runway 26. The airport has been temporarily closed.</p> In a statement, Avianca stated:</strong> that during flight AV9418, scheduled to operate the Pereira-Bogotá route on November 27, we ed an apparent failure in one of the engines during takeoff. Therefore, the crew made the immediate decision to abort the flight and remain on the ground.</p> Following the established safety protocols, the engers and crew evacuated the aircraft and are in perfect condition.</p> Our team assisted engers with accommodations and relocated them on flights throughout the day so they could continue with their travel plans.</p> “Our pilots and crew are trained and prepared to act in situations like this.
