Azul's tourism operator, Azul Viagens, held a meeting today in Recife (PE) with the Secretary of Tourism and Leisure of Pernambuco, Daniel Coelho, the president of Empetur, Eduardo José Carneiro da Cunha Loyo, to announce plans for the high season of 2024, take stock of last year, in addition to discussing new partnerships to further stimulate tourism in the region. The novelty for this year will be the 17% increase in the number of seats offered on dedicated Azul Viagens flights for the July high season, in total there will be 21 thousand seats. In addition, it will have two new routes, offering dedicated flights from Presidente Prudente and Bauru, both in the interior of São Paulo, direct to Recife.
Last year, Recife and Porto de Galinhas showed a growth in engers embarked to the destinations of 39% compared to 2022. According to Giulliana Mesquita, Product Manager at Azul Viagens, these results were due to a combination of a major tourist product, in addition to a strong public-private partnership. “It is a very good place for a family trip, it has excellent infrastructure, with a large hotel network, several tours and different products, with a strong tourist, historical and cultural appeal. We have worked hard in partnership with the state and municipalities to train travel agents and promote the destination among the end public”, says Giulliana, who also highlights that Recife and Porto de Galinhas are two destinations among the most sought after in stores from Azul Viagens and partner agencies.
In addition to the growth for the July high, Azul Viagens for the first half of 2024 (from February to June) included more than 92 thousand seats for the period, representing a growth of 76% compared to the same period last year. This reinforces the operator's commitment to promoting national tourism year-round.
Between January 23rd and February 6th, Azul Viagens, Azul's tourism operator, will hold a series of meetings and meetings with state and municipal authorities in the main capitals of the Northeast, with the aim of bringing news, balance sheets and partnerships and investment that collaborate with tourism.
