Azul will begin sales tomorrow (15) for a new route from Salgado Filho airport in Porto Alegre (RS), connecting the capital of Rio Grande do Sul with its main hub in the Northeast, Recife airport (PE). Operations will begin on April 7, with two daily flights between the cities.
“Since the airport reopened in October of last year, we have always focused on further expanding the Porto Alegre and Rio Grande do Sul air network with connections to the entire country. From Recife, customers can connect to 36 other destinations, 19 of which are in the Northeast region, facilitating connections for those leaving Rio Grande do Sul bound for the capitals of the Northeast,” said Vitor Silva, Azul’s General Manager of Network, Strategic Planning and Alliances.
The flights will be operated by Embraer E2 aircraft, with capacity for 136 customers. The first flight departs from Porto Alegre at 2:50 a.m., arriving in Recife at 6:50 a.m. The return flight departs at 7:30 a.m., landing in Porto Alegre at 11:30 a.m. The second flight departs from Porto Alegre at 12:50 p.m. and lands in Recife at 16:50 p.m. The return flight departs at 17:30 p.m. and arrives in Porto Alegre at 21:30 p.m.
Expansion of flights in Porto Alegre
With the announcement of another city, Azul now offers 11 destinations served from Porto Alegre airport. In addition to Recife, Azul has flights from the capital of Rio Grande do Sul to Congonhas (São Paulo), Belo Horizonte (MG), Curitiba (PR), Galeão (RJ), Guarulhos (SP) and Campinas (SP). In addition, the airport has flights to the interior of the state, such as Santa Maria, Santo Ângelo, Pelotas and Uruguaiana.
