Azul expects to start operations in the Amazonian city on August 03rd and plans to land for the first time in Ponta Porã and Correia Pinto on September 08th, 2021.

However, the start of sales for the new flights and the confirmation of the planned dates will depend on the execution and completion of works to improve the airport infrastructure in the three cities, in addition to the conclusion of negotiations for ICMS reduction agreements on aviation fuel so that to encourage the operation in the states.

To São Gabriel, Azul expects to fly three times a week, connecting the city in the interior of the Amazon to the capital. The flights will be carried out with Brazilian Embraer E195 aircraft, which can carry 118 engers.

Ponta Pora, which will be the sixth destination served by the company in Mato Grosso do Sul, will have a daily connection to Azul's main connection center in the country: Viracopos airport, in Campinas (SP), in an aircraft to be defined after certification from the airport with ANAC.

Correia Pinto, in the state of Santa Catarina, will replace the operations in Lages and serve the region of “Campos de Lages”, with more than 300 thousand inhabitants. The flights will also be daily and with destination to Campinas.

“Azul is the largest airline in the country in volume of daily flights and destinations served and the announcement of the planning of three new and unprecedented bases for August and September reinforces the company's investment in connecting all Brazilian regions. Each new base included strengthens our network and, at the same time, enables the economic development of the region that will be served. In a year of uncertainties, we reinforced the company's investment in Brazil, believing in the country's potential and having the expectation that, with mass vaccination, we will be able to have a second semester of recovery for the sector”, points out Vitor Silva, Azul's network planning manager.
