In July 2024, Azul Cargo Express in Porto Alegre reached a historic record of 100 thousand deliveries in one month. This milestone is special because the unit had been seriously affected by flooding in May, becoming completely flooded and requiring the team to relocate to a temporary space.
The Porto Alegre store, founded in November 2009, is one of the first and oldest of Azul Cargo Express, which celebrated 15 years this month. With almost 15 years of operation, July 2024 marked the period with the highest volume of deliveries recorded at the unit, which has a daily average of 3 to 5 thousand deliveries. For August, the July record could be sured, with 45 thousand deliveries already made by the second week.
“The power of unity with employees was what gave us the strength to continue. Going from a desperate situation to seeing a smile on everyone’s face is a priceless victory,” says Luís Fernando Jr., owner of the store.
Luís also has two other Azul Cargo Express units, one in Novo Hamburgo and another in Porto Alegre, whose opening was scheduled for May, but was postponed due to the climate catastrophe.
During the rainy season, the 25 employees at the unit that recently set a delivery record dedicated themselves not only to maintaining operations, but also to helping the community. They were involved in receiving and distributing food, blankets, health and cleaning items, and clothing, which were delivered to several local associations to those most in need.
“Seeing this achievement by the Porto Alegre store, right after overcoming so many challenges, is inspiring. All of this was possible due to the agility that our business unit had in creating solutions so that shipments of cargo to Customers were not interrupted. This high number of deliveries symbolizes the strength and determination of our team. We are extremely proud of the work done by everyone”, said the director of Azul Cargo Express, Izabel Reis.
