Azul has just launched another international flight from Pernambuco. Starting in June, the new route from Recife to Porto will begin operating. Flights will depart Recife twice a week, always on Wednesdays and Fridays, departing the capital of Pernambuco at 18:30 p.m. and arriving in Porto at 06:30 a.m. the following day. Return flights will depart Porto at 10:00 a.m., arriving in Recife at 14:05 p.m., always on Thursdays and Sundays. The flights will be operated by EuroAtlantic's Boeing 767 aircraft, with capacity for 259 engers, 14 in Business Class and 245 in Economy Class.

The route is important to facilitate the connection between the two continents and meet the demand of Brazilian and Portuguese engers. In addition, it creates another connection option to Europe from Azul's main hub in the Northeast, facilitating travel for Customers in the region, who will not need to fly to more distant airports to change flights.

“Azul is increasingly consolidating itself as a global company, connecting important destinations both in Brazil and abroad. The Recife-Porto route reinforces the company’s commitment to expanding its international operations and creating new connection possibilities for Customers, especially those who use our regional network and need to travel to Europe. In addition, it serves as another gateway for foreign tourists to discover the highlights of the Northeast”, says César Grandolfo, Institutional Relations Manager at Azul Linhas Aéreas.

“The route strengthens Recife’s role as Azul’s main hub in the Northeast and one of the main hubs in the country, promoting tourism, boosting our economy and facilitating cultural exchange between Brazil and Portugal. This is yet another demonstration of the strategic potential of our capital, which continues to advance as a gateway to the country and the world,” highlighted the mayor of Recife, João Campos.

Recife is the company's third hub in the country and its largest in the Northeast. Guararapes Airport operates 34 routes, both domestic and international. The city has become a key connection for destinations in the Northeast, North and South of Brazil, in addition to being an important link for regional and international flights. In 2024 alone, more than 29 takeoffs were made from Recife, totaling 3,8 million seats offered from the capital of Pernambuco.

“The new Recife-Porto route is more than just a connection between Brazil and Portugal; it is an invitation to discover. This direct connection facilitates the flow of tourists and expands opportunities for more Brazilians to reconnect with their origins, exploring the north and interior of Portugal. Regions such as Porto and the North or Center of Portugal are rich in history, culture and authentic experiences. In addition, Porto maintains strategic connections with Madeira and the Azores, allowing travelers to discover even more of what Portugal has to offer. With this partnership with Azul, we reinforce the proximity between the two countries and encourage new experiences that unite cultures and bring people together”, says Bernardo Cardoso, Director of Turismo de Portugal in Brazil.

Flights will go on sale on February 11th on the Azul Viagens website, Azul, Sales Center, Azul Viagens stores or at partner travel agencies.
