Azul receives two new ATR 72-600 aircraft for regional routes

Azul received this Friday (11) the ATR 72-600 aircraft with registration PR-YXE, named “Somos Azul”. On Saturday (12), the arrival of another unit of the same model, the PR-YXF, is scheduled to be named “Alvorada Azul”. With capacity to transport up to 72 Customers each, the new aircraft reinforce Azul's commitment to accessing and connecting cities in the interior and regions that historically did not have regular flights. With these additions, Azul now has 42 ATRs in its fleet, which now totals 225 aircraft in total.

Equipped with PW127XT engines from Pratt & Whitney Canada, the aircraft present significant operational gains: the new generation of engine allows maintenance costs to be reduced by up to 20% and fuel consumption by at least 3% – the result of advances such as hybrid ceramic bearings, more efficient compressors and turbines developed with cutting-edge materials.
