destination on the rise

“We are very happy to be able to announce this new market”, comments Beatriz Barbi, Azul's network planning manager. “Foz do Iguaçu is one of the most popular destinations for tourists in the country, but there is also leisure traffic in the opposite direction. Having this connectivity between the two cities will further stimulate demand in the regions, strengthening our network and the offer we have from the two destinations”, completed.
The airport received renovations and expansions with financial from Itaipu and the state and federal governments. The works included increasing the length of the runway, remodeling the terminal with conveyor belts for baggage recovery and loading and unloading fingers, and the duplication of the road section from the BR-469, the Rodovia das Cataratas.
Destino Iguaçu reinforced its presence on the radar of airlines through promotion and publicity campaigns, says Angeli. In the first year of the pandemic, Itaipu launched the Vem Pra Foz campaign, which at first reached residents of the region, then at the national level, recalls the secretary.
In December of last year, Foz do Iguaçu received the Christmas of Waters and Lights as a gift. The action, carried out by the City Hall, Itaipu Binacional, the Iguaçu Fund and the Cultural Foundation, mobilized and enchanted more than 300 residents and tourists with many physical, artistic, leisure and cultural activities.
