Azul's new maintenance hangar, located at Viracopos Airport (Campinas), already has its main structure fully completed, and the size of the hangar is impressive.
A spotter video Dico712, posted yesterday (08/01), shows the size of the new hangar, compared to the airline's own aircraft, which were taxiing and landing at the airport. See the video below:
In December, the president of Azul, John Rodgerson, declared that Azul will start carrying out maintenance on its new Hangar in Campinas (Viracopos) from the 1st quarter of 2020.
Built on an area of 100 m², the company's new maintenance center has three floors and will be able to receive up to eight A320 aircraft, or two A330s simultaneously.

The 35 m² of built area are divided into three floors, two of which are used for workshops. A warehouse for technical supplies, changing rooms and a cafeteria are also part of the project, which will be the largest hangar in Latin America. In all, 500 direct and indirect jobs should be created at Azul's first maintenance center in the interior of São Paulo.
In the video we can see the cuts in the front of the hangar, to allow the entry of the A330 vertical stabilizer inside the hangar. In this way, the mechanics can work on the planes without external interference, such as the presence of rain.

The free span, at the front, is 170 meters long and 90 meters wide. The site also has a large patio in front of the hangar, allowing the "parking" of several aircraft of the company.
When in operation, Azul will be able to divide four positions for heavy maintenance and four for line, offering the necessary infrastructure for installations of any type of maintenance or technology. Positions are versatile, allowing more aircraft to be accommodated for lighter, shorter-term maintenance.
In all, 500 direct and indirect jobs should be created at Azul's first maintenance center in the interior of São Paulo.
