Boeing assesses impact of tariffs imposed by Donald Trump

Boeing Chief Financial Officer Brian West said the company is monitoring the potential impact of President Donald Trump's tariffs on parts availability from suppliers. Boeing is concerned that the tariffs could restrict parts availability from its suppliers.

West said the aircraft manufacturer currently has sufficient inventory. The statement was made during an industry conference hosted by Bank of America. At the event, West also said Boeing is expected to record a one-time hit of $150 million to its first-quarter profit.

The company has been facing financial challenges due to low deliveries of commercial jets and rising costs on fixed-price contracts in its defense and space division. The executive added that Boeing's cash flow could improve by "hundreds of millions" of dollars in the first quarter and that the tariffs were not expected to affect demand for commercial aircraft.

Boeing currently has an order book of more than 5.000 aircraft, the majority of which are the 737 model. Deliveries of the 737 MAX in March are expected to maintain the same volume as in February, when 31 units of the model were delivered, in addition to a P-8 Poseidon for the United States Navy.
As of last Tuesday (18), the company had delivered thirteen 737 units, according to a report by Barclays.
