Brasília Airport is the largest terminal with international movement outside the Rio-São Paulo axis

Brasilia Airport one of the most punctual in the world according to study

International movement at Brasília Airport has shown a post-pandemic recovery. The Brasilia terminal closes the year 2023 as the airport outside the Rio-São Paulo axis that moves the most engers abroad. It is the third Brazilian airport with the largest flow of international flight engers, behind only Guarulhos and Galeão.

The flow of s between departures and arrivals abroad through the Brasilia terminal was 560 thousand people, a number of engers 36% higher than in 2022. Over the past year, international air traffic was 3.528 landings and takeoffs.

Even with this recovery, Brasília Airport remains far from the international movement it had before the pandemic, in 2019, when the airport had connections with 10 cities abroad.

In March 2023, LATAM resumed direct flights from the federal capital to Lima, Peru. The company operated this route before the pandemic and returned to operating the destination with daily frequencies. TAP and Copa Airlines increased the frequency of their direct flights from the federal capital in 2023.

Today, engers can fly directly from the federal capital to six destinations abroad: Lisbon with TAP, Panama with Copa Airlines, Miami and Orlando with GOL, Buenos Aires with Aerolineas Argentinas and Lima operated by LATAM. In June 2024, Sky Airline, a Chilean low-cost company, will inaugurate its operation in the Federal District, operating flights to Santiago, Chile, with three weekly flights, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. In the same month, LATAM also resumes operating the route to Santiago with three weekly frequencies.

The year 2024 is already starting with good international movement. For January and February, the Brasilia terminal recorded the highest frequency of flights to Miami and Orlando, in Florida, United States. 202 landings and takeoffs were made to North American cities. This was the largest international air network ever operated by GOL in Brasília which, in addition to the additional flights to the United States, connected Brasília to Buenos Aires, in Argentina, between January 2 and February 14, 2024, with 4 direct weekly flights.

“Brasília Airport was designed for the best enger connectivity. The entire design of the terminal helps s quickly connect to both domestic and international airlines. engers arriving from any location in Brazil do not need to disembark to access the international departure lounge, for example. Directly from domestic boarding, the enger with a ticket to the destination abroad, already accesses the security inspection channel from the domestic flight lounge and accesses the international area”, says Airline Business Manager Daniel Dumaresq.

This agility in the connection, boarding and disembarking processes is essential to guarantee good performance for airlines. For the executive, Brasília has all the qualities to be another option outside the Rio-São Paulo axis. “We have good national connectivity, we have direct flights to all Brazilian capitals and several cities in the interior. This, in addition to the design and operational agility, makes Brasília Airport a good alternative for boarding flights abroad,” he explains.

In addition to the concessionaire's work, assistance from the Government of the Federal District has been essential in attracting new opportunities for international flights to the country's capital. “Working together strengthens the federal capital; The engers are the winners, with more flight options and connectivity. The incentives and from government departments, such as Tourism, and, of course, airline companies and competent bodies, are fundamental to having more opportunities for the Federal District”, points out Dumaresq.
