International flights are still being gradually resumed, however, a new route may be on Brazil's radar, and this is not yet carried out by any company.

Brazil and Egypt are negotiating the start of commercial flights between the countries, which will be carried out by Egyptair, the country's flag carrier.

Who is intermediating this flight is Wael Ahmed Kamal Aboulmagd, ambassador of Egypt in Brazil. The flight must be between Cairo and São Paulo.

It is not yet clear if there is demand on this route, or if Egyptair plans to use Cairo as a hub for connections to Asia and the Middle East, as the airline flies to 65 destinations outside Egypt.

For the route to be authorized, ANAC needs to issue two authorizations, one that allows Egyptair to regularly operate international flights to Brazil, and another that allows the regular operation of the route between Cairo and São Paulo.

“I wouldn't be exaggerating when I say it's a matter of weeks before the first direct flight departs. We are working on the final details of the negotiation and very soon we should announce it. It's going to be a significant change on multiple levels. This is a priority for both governments and Brazil is cooperating a lot with us.”, said Wael Ahmed Kamal Aboulmagd, the Ambassador of Egypt.
