“We are trying to reduce the rate of illicit acts by air in a vast border area to zero”, says the Chief of the t Chiefs of Staff of the Aerospace Operations Command (COMAE), Brigadier Major Ricardo Cesar Mangrich. He explains that, for this, at first, aircraft, radars and personnel were moved to areas considered strategic.

In this first stage of Ostium, two radars were taken to the cities of Chapecó (SC) and Corumbá (MS), to improve the probability of detection, since aircraft involved in illicit activities tend to fly very low. The cities of Campo Grande (MS), Dourados (MS), Cascavel (PR) and Foz do Iguaçu (PR) received fighter jets, remotely manned aircraft, radar planes and helicopters, increasing the efficiency of air patrols in places considered more sensitive. .

In Mato Grosso do Sul, one of the states where the effort is concentrated, the entire structure has already been set up for the start of the Ostium operation.
