CCR Aeroportos, manager of Foz do Iguaçu International Airport since March 2022, informs that it will complete the works and approve the extension of the aerodrome's runway, which is still unused due to pending construction and installation issues.

As stated in the documents that ed the bidding, the completion of the works on the landing and take-off runway at Foz do Iguaçu airport before the start of the concession was the responsibility of Infraero. Therefore, there is no contractual provision for CCR Aeroportos to carry out the aforementioned works and, therefore, the concessionaire did not expect to spend amounts for this investment. The company maintained a dialogue with Infraero, but there was no progress in resolving the issues related to the runway extension.

Faced with the impossibility of receiving commercial flights and larger cargo ships, which implies losses to the productive sector of the city of Foz do Iguaçu and the State of Paraná, CCR Aeroportos decided to complete the works, install the necessary equipment and carry out the approval process of the runway next to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).

In order for the extension of the landing and take-off runway at Foz do Iguaçu International Airport to be approved in accordance with the standards required by ANAC, CCR Aeroportos will carry out structural works, such as: readjustments and implementation of pavement drainage, horizontal markings, adjustments earthmoving, adjustments to equipment to aid aerial navigation, handling obstacles, among other necessary attributes.

With a length of 664 meters, the Landing and Takeoff Runway at Foz do Iguaçu Airport will increase from 2.194 meters to 2.858 meters, being the second longest in the South region. It will be in full operation from March 2025, as the The approval process takes 12 months. The planned investment is around R$20 million and, in the future, the company will seek redress from the responsible bodies.
