Campo Grande Air Base hosts Transportex 2016

Seventeen squadrons of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) are participating until Saturday (04/06) in the fifth edition of the 2016 Transportex Operational Exercise at Campo Grande Air Base (BACG). The training aims at improving and ready-to-use capacity of the air units subordinated to the Fifth Air Force (V FAE) and the Air Transport Squadrons (ETA), training them in fictitious tactical scenarios typical of Transport Aviation.

The highlight of this year's edition is the performance during the exercises of the Fighter aviation, represented by the First Group of Fighter Aviation (1° GAVCA); reconnaissance aviation, with the Guardian Squadron (2nd/6th GAV); Search and Rescue, with the Pelican Squadron (2nd/10th GAV); and the Second Antiaircraft Defense Group (2nd GDAAE).

One of the exercises carried out together is the cargo launch, when, upon receiving the demand to launch cargo for allied troops that are in enemy territory, the transport aircraft, C-130 Hércules, takes off towards the hostile area . Without an escort, the transport aircraft is intercepted by an F-5, making it difficult for the military to deliver the cargo. In this context, the R-99, a reconnaissance aircraft, sends information to the Hércules, reporting the threat positions and, from there, the simulated combat begins. The training allows FAB Air Units to test their employment techniques in hostile environments and self-defense systems.

“Training together with these planes is of great importance so that our military personnel are always prepared to carry out their missions. The exchange of experiences during the exercises adds more knowledge for the military and growth for the FAB”, highlights the Commander of the Fifth Air Force (V FAE), Air Brigadier Mozart de Oliveira Farias.
