A HBO Max has just announced the debut of CHAPECÓ DOSSIER: THE GAME BEHIND THE TRAGEDY for November 3rd, the month in which the tragedy completes seven years. In four episodes, the documentary miniseries revisits the event that became known as the 'Chapecoense Tragedy'. The production is one of the nominees for the 2023 International Emmy, in the Best Documentary category, which takes place on November 20th.
In the early hours of November 29, 2016, flight LaMia 2933, which was carrying engers from the Chapecoense Football Association, crashed en route to Colombia, leaving 71 fatal victims and only six survivors. The tragedy interrupted an important phase in the history of the Santa Catarina team, which was traveling to compete in the unprecedented final of the 2016 Copa Sudamericana.
In the search for identification and ability of those responsible, CHAPECÓ DOSSIER: THE GAME BEHIND THE TRAGEDY Its starting point is exclusive testimonies from survivors and families of victims and archive images recorded by players who were present at the plane crash. In addition, it features interviews with sports journalists Juca Kfouri and Alex Sabino, former player and senator Romário and access to other key figures: Ricardo Albacete, founder of the airline Lamia, and Marcos Rocha, former pilot and owner of the company . Those responsible for the accident are still being investigated.
