On September 19, 2024, CDB Aviation, a Chinese aircraft leasing company, revealed that its Irish subsidiary, CDB Aviation Lease Finance, is placing an order for 50 Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft. The company confirmed in a filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that it expects to receive the aircraft between 2028 and 2031. This deal, China's largest Boeing 737 MAX order in nearly 10 years, was closed a week after CDB Aviation announced an order for 80 Airbus A320neos, with delivery scheduled for 2030 to 2032. Prior to this order, CDB Aviation already had 34 Boeing 737 MAXs in service and had committed to an additional 36 aircraft of this model by September 2024. According to information from ch-aviation, there are currently 138 Boeing 737 MAX series aircraft ordered by Chinese carriers and not yet delivered, excluding the new order from CDB Aviation.
