TAP Air Portugal chose Christ the Redeemer, in the wonderful city, to celebrate “Conexão TAP”, which aims to connect Brazilians to Europe. The choice of Rio de Janeiro is very symbolic for TAP. This was the first city that the airline flew to Brazil, in 1961, and this flight was named “Friendship Flight”.
The event, which brought together the trade tourism, entities and guests, it also served to mark World Tourism Day, which is celebrated today on September 27th. A tribute to everyone who works in this sector every day.

Data from the pioneering program were also presented Stopover from TAP. During the first six months of the year, more than 112 thousand engers used the Stopover program, an increase of almost 20% compared to the same period in 2022. Brazilians lead the way, with around 50% of the total, more than 52 thousand engers. Brazil had a 41% increase in the use of the program compared to the previous year.
The Stopover program allows engers from Brazil, or other origins, to stay in Portugal for up to 10 days without paying a new one. This is a very competitive and attractive product that has been very successful. This way, tourists can spend more days in Portugal and benefit from exclusive offers and discounts from more than 100 partners. Stopover represents an important partnership between TAP and Turismo de Portugal.
Currently, TAP has direct flights from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belém, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Natal, Maceió, Porto Alegre, Recife and Salvador, to Lisbon, in addition to connecting Porto to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The symbolism of lighting with the colors of the Portuguese flag was carried out by the Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer. The event is in partnership with Rio Galeão, companies Portugal United and Turismo de Portugal.
