This Sunday (27/10), Confins Airport (BH Airport) will have the first direct flight to Porto Alegre, since the floods that occurred in Rio Grande do Sul at the beginning of the year and which led to the closure of Salgado Filho International Airport.
The operation in the BH Airport is being resumed with two daily flights by Azul Linhas Aéreas, totaling 14 weekly frequencies. With the new flights, the airport should receive an increase of around 20 thousand engers per month. Porto Alegre airport was closed five months ago, after being flooded by the floods that hit Rio Grande do Sul. Approximately 75% of the runway was underwater, causing significant damage and making operations impossible. At first, the terminal will operate partially with the reduced runway. The expectation is that the full resumption of operations at Salgado Filho International Airport will occur by December.
Flights to Porto Alegre depart daily at 9:05 a.m. and 13:20 p.m. from BH Airport, landing in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul at 14:35 p.m. and 18:05 p.m., respectively. In addition to Porto Alegre, other destinations in the South have routes departing from the Minas Gerais terminal, such as Curitiba (PR); Florianópolis (SC); Foz do Iguaçu (PR) and Navegantes (SC). BH Airport is currently the second airport in Brazil with the largest number of domestic destinations.
