Congonhas Airport, managed by Aena, has begun work to double the remote boarding lounge, expand the main boarding lounge and renovate the enger terminal's bathrooms. The start of the work comes at a time when Aena's management of Congonhas completes 1 year, celebrated last Thursday (17).
The current remote boarding lounge, located on the ground floor, will increase from the current 1,4 m² to over 3,1 m² once the works are completed. The expanded space is scheduled to open by March of next year. The area will more than double in size, but will maintain the same number of boarding gates, which will now have greater spacing between them. This will provide engers with more space to move around and more seats while waiting for their flights.

On the upper floor, work is already underway to expand the main departure lounge. A new area of 3 m² will be created, representing an increase of around 30% compared to the current space. The first phase of delivery of the space is scheduled for late 2024 and early 2025.

Work has also begun on renovating the enger terminal's bathrooms, which will become more modern and pleasant. The work will be done gradually so as not to affect the availability of the facilities to s. The first two bathrooms are currently being renovated. The expectation is that all 12 bathrooms will be renovated by the first quarter of 2025.
