Congonhas Airport: Police and bandits exchange fire at the garage building

At the end of the afternoon of this Tuesday (15/02) there was a shooting in the parking lot of the Congonhas Airport, in Sao Paulo. On the occasion, two robbers who were stealing spare tires from cars exchanged fire with police.

One of the robbers was arrested, and the other is on the run as he managed to escape after the shooting. The perpetrators were taking the spare wheel of a luxury car into the garage building at the site, and the police were warned by security at the site.

No engers or civilians were injured during the exchange of fire. As a result of property damage, a gate at the site was broken and is isolated. The car's spare tire was not stolen. The whole action lasted approximately 5 minutes.

Each spare tire stolen is worth approximately R$8 according to the police.

Camera footage from the location was collected, and will be analyzed later by the Civil Police of São Paulo to identify the thief who managed to escape. An investigation was already underway by the SP Civil Police, and the action is part of an attempt to minimize robberies at Congonhas Airport.

“Infraero clarifies that, on the afternoon of this Tuesday (15/2), there was a failed robbery attempt on the internal premises of the Garage Building at Congonhas Airport. The Military and Civil Police were called and immediately attended the scene. It is worth mentioning that the building is managed by Estapar, responsible for the security of the place”, said Infraero in an official note.
