Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, SA, has just implemented payments via Pix on its official website and application (iOS/Android) through the SafetyPay solution. The method is only available to customers with national bank s and can be used to pay for, in addition to the tickets themselves, seat category upgrades and boarding fees. At this point, additional products such as travel insurance, car rental and others are not yet eligible to be paid with the new format.
“It’s yet another way for us to improve our customers’ experience from the moment they choose to travel with us. Pix quickly became popular with Brazilians for offering agility, convenience and security in transactions. As we are increasingly expanding our presence in the country, demand for using the modality has been growing at the same rate”, comments Raphael de Lucca, Manager of Copa Airlines in Brazil.
Launched by the Central Bank of Brazil at the end of 2020, Pix arrived as an innovative solution for instant payments and transfers, quickly becoming the most used method in the country. Even before completing two years of its creation, it sured credit and debit cards in number of transactions. According to the Central Bank itself, in the first quarter of 2024 alone, Pix was used more than 13 million times, while the credit card, the second most used, recorded only around 4 million operations.
