Earlier this week, L-001, a first production aircraft F-35 Lightning II from Denmark flew its maiden flight. Denmark it is the fifth European NATO country to fly and operate an F-35, strengthening NATO's 5th generation air power base. Denmark is ing four other European nations that already operate the F-35: United Kingdom , The Netherlands , Norway e Italy .
Like the F-16 before it, the F-35 is leading NATO airpower and ensuring the strategic integration of Allied combat airpower. The 35th Generation F-5's vital interoperability unites 13 allies and partners with the United States in the air domain and enabling critical t capabilities. The F-35 will serve as a force multiplier for the Denmark , allowing the Royal Danish Air Force to train and fight alongside NATO allies and create a strong deterrent.
“Achieving the first flight do Denmark's first F-35 is an important milestone for Denmark's F-35 program and a testament to the exceptional skills of our dedicated and highly trained t industry and government team." said Bill Brotherton , vice president, F-35 president and general manager. “This team's focus on delivering the world's most effective, survivable and connected fighter will ensure the sovereign protection of the Denmark and will strengthen allies and partners through NATO's F-35 coalition.”
The F-35A is scheduled to be delivered to the Royal Danish Air Force in April and will be flown to Lucas Air Base in the Arizona , at the end of this year for training pilots and maintainers. The F-35s will arrive at Denmark in 2023 and will be based on the Royal Danish Air Force's Fighter Wing Skrydstrup, where they will protect the skies of Denmark and its NATO allies.
