The first airline to receive the COMAC C919 was China Eastern Airlines, the aircraft was configured to carry 164 engers and was titled on the fuselage saying: "The world's first C919".

With entry into service only for 2023, the new C919 made the delivery flight in just 15 minutes. China Eastern has ordered five aircraft of the type, which are expected to be delivered by 2024.

COMAC expects to increase the number of deliveries of the C919 to 25 aircraft per year, until at least 2030. The path to compete directly with the consolidated Airbus A320neo and the Boeing 737 MAX will be long, but the Chinese manufacturer remains firm in its bet on the new aircraft .

To increase the number of aircraft, the manufacturer is seeking to centralize the manufacturing parts of the new aircraft, seeking to depend less and less on imports from other countries so that they are produced in the national territory.

COMAC is also betting its chips on the new CJ-1000A engine, so that more than half of the aircraft's components are made in China itself. The engine is still in the early stages of manufacturing.
