EASA issues certification for the LEAP-1A engines of the Airbus A321XLR

EASA announced on August 6 that it has revised the type certificate (TC) data sheet (TCDS) for the EASA's LEAP-1A and LEAP-1C engines. CFM International, which equip the Airbus A320neo and COMAC C919 aircraft. The modifications, which were incorporated into the TCDS on July 10th and published on August 6th, included the models LEAP-1A32X, LEAP-1A33X, LEAP-1A33B2X and LEAP-1A35AX in the engine family certificate.

A CFM International announced that the engines were certified on July 10, but the TCDS update with the inclusion of the four engine models for the A321XLR also provided additional details about the engines that are present in the new addition to Airbus' A320neo family.

“As a result, no engine modifications were required, giving operators the added benefit of 100 percent commonality with their existing A320neo family fleets.”

According to Airbus, certification of the A321XLR with the engines Pratt & Whitney PW1100G, or Geared Turbofan (GTF), is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2024.

Meanwhile, Airbus is moving forward with preparations for the entry into commercial service of the A321XLR with the Iberia. data of planespotters.net indicate that the Iberia, part of International Airlines Group (IAG), was expected to incorporate four A321XLRs into its fleet.
