Embraer's ethanol-powered agricultural plane reaches the milestone of 1.500 units delivered

Technological icon of Brazilian agriculture with five decades of operation, the agricultural plane Ipanema, Embraer, reached the mark of 1.500 units delivered. The aircraft, which received a commemorative painting alluding to the historic milestone and with references to national agribusiness, was received yesterday by cattle rancher Carla de Freitas, owner of Agropecuária Bela Vista, headquartered in Vilhena, in the state of Rondônia.

The rancher, who is also one of the founders of the Núcleo Feminino do Agribusiness (NFA) and a member of the content committee of the National Congress of Women in Agribusiness, participated in the handover ceremony at the Embraer Unit in Botucatu, in the interior of São Paulo, where the Ipanema EMB 203 aircraft is manufactured.

“It is an honor to receive Ipanema number 1.500 from a genuinely national company like Embraer, which develops technologies to improve production techniques in Brazilian agriculture. Embraer is a company that demonstrates its commitment to Brazil's technological, agricultural and environmental agenda, with an aircraft powered 100% by ethanol”, said Carla de Freitas. “In addition, being a woman receiving the aircraft from a female pilot demonstrates the company's value and care with the theme of gender inclusion”, completes the producer.

The celebration took place amid yet another year of record sales for the aircraft which, in the first five months of 2022, recorded 39 new orders. The volume is 22% higher when compared to the same period last year. At the Agrishow Ribeirão Preto alone, held at the end of April, 11 model 203 aircraft were sold, the most modern of the series. The Ipanema 203 incorporates the latest technological innovations in the segment and exceeds the number of 130 aircraft in operation in the country. The Ipanema aircraft family is in its fifth generation. 

Embraer's agricultural aviation division ended 2021 with 42 Ipanema aircraft delivered, an increase of 90% compared to 2020. With the sales figures at the beginning of 2022, the company solidifies its leadership position in the market, which at Ipanema the efficiency, productivity, economy and robustness that transform it into an essential tool for the country's agribusiness.

The role of the Ipanema in modern agriculture combines high technology and the tradition of an aircraft that continually evolves, meeting the most rigorous safety requirements, and delivering high productivity and low operating costs, especially when compared to other types of sprayers. 

Powered by ethanol since 2005, the Ipanema became the first Embraer aircraft certified and produced in series to fly with renewable energy, leading a broad front of the company's historic work in research and the use of biofuels in aviation. The aircraft is the market leader in the aerial spraying segment, with a 60% national share.
