Hunnu Air has launched regular routes with Embraer’s E195-E2 jet in Mongolia. The inaugural flight from Ulan Bator to Beijing Daxing International Airport also marked the first time the E2 operated on a regular route to China. Hunnu Air, Embraer and Daxing Airport today held a t ceremony to mark the successful inauguration of the route, strengthening connectivity between the hubs of Mongolia and China and strengthening economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
The flight was operated by the first of two new E195-E2 jets delivered to Hunnu Air in April. The airline plans to use the E2s to increase capacity on routes to Haikou (China), Sanya (China) and Phu Quoc (Vietnam). In addition, the jets will enable the airline to expand routes to more destinations in Japan, China, Vietnam, India, South Korea and also to inaugurate a route to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Hunnu Air’s E195-E2 is configured in a comfortable two-class layout with 136 seats in a 2x2 configuration, without the middle seats – a trademark of Embraer.
Embraer is committed to the Mongolian aviation market, and has established long-standing partnerships with local airlines over the past few years, contributing to the advancement of the country’s aviation capabilities. The first Embraer aircraft to operate in Mongolia – an ERJ 145 – entered service in 2018.
“Today, we are very proud to launch this route with Hunnu Air’s new E195-E2, the first E2 jet to operate in China. The selection of the E195-E2 for this crucial route underscores the depth of our partnership with Hunnu Air and our shared responsibility to ensure safe, efficient and sustainable operations. We have a strong partnership with Hunnu Air to the success of this very important route. The E2 is well-suited and will enable Hunnu Air to grow profitably, unlocking Mongolia’s great potential and strengthening Asia’s growing network,” said Martyn Holmes, Chief Commercial Officer, Embraer Commercial Aviation.
