Ethiopian Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for 11 Airbus Additional A350-900s to its existing fleet. The latest agreement brings Ethiopian Airlines' total backlog of orders and commitments for the A350 to 33, including four A350-1000s.
Ethiopian Airlines currently operates a fleet of 20 A350-900s and, with this commitment, will confirm its position as the largest A350 customer in Africa.
The g of the Memorandum of Understanding took place at the Dubai Airshow in the presence of the CEO of the Ethiopian Airlines Group, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, and the Commercial Director and International Head of Airbus, Christian Scherer.
The A350 can operate short-haul routes to ultra-long-haul routes up to 9.700 nautical miles. Its clean design includes cutting-edge technologies, aerodynamics, lightweight materials and state-of-the-art engines that together offer a 25% advantage in fuel consumption, operating costs and CO₂ emissions, as well as a 50% noise reduction compared to the competitor's previous generation.
To date, the Airbus A350 has won more than 1.000 orders from major airlines around the world.
