Ethiopian Airlines receives international award for actions carried out during the Covid-19 period

The work carried out by Ethiopian Airlines teams during the COVID-19 pandemic was recognized by the Global Recognition and Appreciation Award at the First Post-COVID International Conference, held in Toronto, Canada, valuing actions carried out by the airline such as transporting medical supplies , healthcare teams and people who were away from their families.

Ethiopian Airlines played a crucial role in reconfiguring approximately 25 enger aircraft to transport cargo. The aircraft operated on more than 470 repatriation flights, reuniting more than 63 thousand citizens with their families. In partnership with government entities, non-governmental organizations and international agencies, Ethiopian Airlines has facilitated the transport of millions of tons of protective equipment, medical devices, vaccines and other essential supplies across Africa and beyond.

The conference was organized by entities from International Livelihoods Development Initiatives, Intergovernmental Authority on Development and other partners, with a focus on building a single frontier to respond to future global pandemics.

Global connectivity is a hallmark of Ethiopian Airlines, and can be recognized with the variety of routes offered. The air network was recently expanded, with the inclusion of new destinations, such as Warsaw (Poland), Maun (Botswana), Freetown (Sierra Leone), Axum and Nekemte (Ethiopia), from its hub in Addis Ababa.
