Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets were called in yesterday (14/10) to intercept two Russian Tu-160 Blackjack bombers as they approached the UK. The fighters departed from Leuchars Air Station in Scotland.
The two Blackjacks were detected by NATO air defense radars and the decision was made to deploy the fighter jets as well. Quick Reaction Alert of the Royal Norwegian Air Force. The Norwegian F-16s departed from Bodø air base and intercepted the Russian aircraft, following them as they continued south.

As the Russian Blackjacks approached the UK's area of interest, a Voyager Multi-Role Tanker Transport was launched from RAF Brize Norton. Subsequently, RAF Rapid Reaction Alert fighters moved out of their temporary home at Leuchars Station to intercept the two Blackjacks.
We worked closely with units across the Royal Air Force to deliver another successful intercept, maintaining the security and integrity of UK and NATO airspace across the territory.
The TU-160 bombers moved away from the regions and the Norwegian F-16 fighters and the British Eurofighter Typhoons returned to their respective air bases.
