F/A-18 Super Hornet crashes aircraft carrier Mediterranean Sea USA

a fighter F / A-18 Super Hornet of the US Navy (USN) crashed from the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) last Friday (08), while sailing in the Mediterranean Sea. A sailor was injured.

The F/A-18 Super Hornet lost at sea belongs to Carried Air Wing 1 (CVW-1), which has four squadrons of F/A-18E/F embarked on CVN-75: VFA-34 Blue Blasters, VFA-11 Red Rippers (the only one with the two-seat F/A-18F), VFA-211 Fighting Checkmates and VFA-81 Sunliners. All of them are based at Oceana Naval Air Station, in the state of Virginia.

In addition to the four fighter squadrons, the carrier carries two squadrons of MH-60R/S Seahawk helicopters, a transport squadron of twin-engine C-2 Greyhounds, an electronic strike squadron of EA-18G Growler jets, and a squadron of early warning with the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye. In all, the USS Harry S. Truman carries about 90 planes and helicopters. 
 
The Navy did not give details of the location of the aircraft carrier at the time of the accident. the USS Harry Truman has been in the Mediterranean since December 2021 and has been staying in the region as part of NATO's response against Russia's invasion of Ukraine. 
 
Since then, the US nuclear vessel has integrated with warships from other navies in the region, like Italy and . In addition, some of its planes were also deployed in Eastern Europe.
