The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) intercepted, on the morning of this Tuesday (09/04), near Londrina (PR), a Cessna 182 model aircraft, ed PT-R, which entered Brazilian airspace from the Paraguay. Two A-29 Super Tucano air defense aircraft and the E-99 radar aircraft were used in the mission, carried out in conjunction with the Federal Police (PF).
The action is part of Operation Ostium, linked to the Integrated Border Protection Program (PPIF). The objective is to curb illicit activities in Brazilian airspace, in which the FAB and Public Security Bodies work together.
Initially, the aircraft was seen and identified on the border of Paraguay and Mato Grosso do Sul and was intercepted in Paraná.
Upon entering Brazilian airspace, without a flight plan, the plane began to be monitored by the Aerospace Operations Command (COMAE) and the PF. From then on, the air defense pilots followed the Airspace Policing Measures (MPEA) protocols, the aircraft was classified as suspicious, as provided for in Decree 5.144, of July 16, 2004, and was found to have cloned license plate.
It was determined by the pilot of the A-29 to land in Londrina. The aircraft failed to comply and made a forced landing on a dirt runway near Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo (SP), at 11:10 am. After that, the Federal Police took over the Ground Control Measures (MCS). The crew member on board was detained and the suspicious cargo (cocaine base paste) was seized.
